Women who inspire me...

INDIRA GANDHI: The first lady PM of our country. She outsmarted all the men of her time. During her tenure she was instrumental in bringing radical change in the policies and procedures. If I had to define her in one word - Fierce.

MS Subhalakshmi: She is the first Indian Musician to win the prestigious Magsaysay award. Her achievement–  the breakthrough in the standard male bastion of Carnatic Music.
Kiran Bedi: Ms Bedi was the first lady IPS officer who dared to break in to the field that is dominated by male ego, in a patriarchal Indian Society. She is the most admired IPS officer ever served.
Ritu Kumar: She is one of India's top most fashion designer. I admire her for bringing the Indian fashion to the International audience.
Maharani Gayatri Devi: Beauty, poise, elegance all personified in one...that Maharani Gayatri Devi. She was voted as 'ten most beautiful women' by Vogue. Isn't she picture perfect???
Neena Gupta: She is someone I truly admire for having the guts to raise her child single handedly. She was criticized for having a child out of a wedlock. I think she is a true SURVIVOR.....fighting it against all odds.
Mallika Sarabhai: She epitomizes the modern urban women . She chose to speak out and openly criticize the Modi government for the Godhra riots.

Shobana: I always want to age like her...Isn't she graceful??

She features here because I truly admire her. Being a ardent follower of classical bharatnatyam, I admire her for taking this dance form internationally. She has been instrumental in getting this dance form back to its roots. Wouldn't it be interesting to see these danseuses perform together?

Dedicated to all the beautiful women.....

"She'll put a smile upon your face
And take you to that higher place
So don't you under estimate
The strength of a woman
The strength of a woman

Cream and Gold

Cream and Gold is one of my favorite combination, it represents elegance and purity. It can be the perfect combo for any occasion and can never go wrong. :)

I got hold of a thick linen fabric (cream of course) and an old zari (thanks to amma's kancheevarum silk saree). The design in my mind was that of a traditional mundu (mundu is a garment worn around the waist in Kerala and Maldives) that can be conveniently wrapped around. Whola!!! my wrap around skirt was ready.

My sis here, chose to team this traditional n chic wrap around with a bight yellow top and a golden stole.
You can team it up with any bold colored top and golden junkies.

Skirt: Self made
Top & Stole: Fabindia
